A two‑day, in‑person training programme designed to help European government employees meet the AI literacy requirement of Article 4 of the EU AI Act and strengthen cybersecurity resilience in today’s smart‑office environment. The programme blends policy awareness, practical demonstrations, hands‑on workshops, and secure digital‑behaviour training.

  • What AI is and how it supports office work
  • Machine learning and generative AI
  • Document summarisation, meeting assistants, translation tools
  • Workflow automation
  • Benefits, limitations, and risks
  • Short introduction: Shaping Europe’s Digital Future (Action Plan Against Cyberbullying, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)

Demonstrations:

  • AI summarising a long policy document
  • AI drafting an email

Exercise: Prompting practice for summarising a report and drafting a briefing note.

Workshop 2 — Responsible Use of AI in Government (11:15–12:30) Topics include:

  • Risks of public AI tools
  • Handling sensitive information
  • AI hallucinations and bias
  • Transparency, accountability, and human‑in‑the‑loop
  • Key concepts: AI literacy, risk awareness, responsible prompting

Case study: Confidential data uploaded to a public AI chatbot — what went wrong and how to prevent it. Exercise: Safe vs. unsafe AI use cases.

Lunch Time (12:30–13:30)

Workshop 3 — Threats Targeting Government Offices (13:30–14:45) Topics include:

  • Why governments are prime targets
  • Ransomware, supply‑chain attacks, insider risks
  • AI‑powered threats: deepfakes, advanced phishing

Exercise: Phishing‑email and file‑classification simulation.

Workshop 4 — Building a Secure Digital Workplace (15:15–16:30) Topics include:

  • Strong authentication and password managers
  • Secure remote work and device security
  • Safe document sharing
  • Home Wi‑Fi, VPNs, avoiding rogue networks
  • Recognising fake login pages
  • Secure cloud storage and video meetings

Exercise: Digital‑habits self‑assessment.

Day 2 — Data Protection, Human Factors, and Incident Response

Workshop 5 — Workplace Safety, Data Protection, GDPR & Privacy (09:30–11:30) Topics include:

  • Protecting citizen data
  • Personal vs. confidential vs. classified information
  • Data minimisation and safe sharing
  • Privacy risks in digital tools
  • Examples: accidental leaks, misdirected files, misconfigured cloud folders

Exercise: Document‑sensitivity classification.

Coffee Break (11:30–11:45)

Workshop 6 — Secure Digital AI Tools in Smart Offices (11:45–12:45) Topics include:

  • Collaboration platforms and document‑sharing systems
  • Video‑conferencing security
  • Mobile workspaces and smart‑office devices
  • Risks: unauthorised access, shadow IT, data exposure

Exercise: Secure‑meeting simulation.

Lunch (12:45–13:45)

Workshop 7 — Human Error and Digital Misunderstandings (13:45–15:00) Focus on phishing targeting EU ministries, local administrations, and hospitals. Topics include:

  • Human error as a major security risk
  • Social‑engineering psychology
  • Security culture in public organisations
  • Reporting suspicious activity

Activity: Role‑play scenarios, including suspicious calls from “IT support.”

Workshop 8 — Everyday AI Tools and Digital‑Security Toolkits (15:15–16:30) Topics include:

  • Effective dialogue with AI
  • AI for summarisation, policy drafting, report generation
  • Meeting‑note automation and secure knowledge search
  • Cyber hygiene essentials: verifying links, updates, passwords, screen‑locking, incident reporting

Group activity: Create a personalised My Secure Digital Workplace Plan.

Final Exercise — AI & Cybersecurity Simulation (16:30–17:15) Scenario: A phishing attack, suspicious login, and potential data leak. Participants determine:

  • Immediate actions
  • Notification steps
  • Containment strategies

Outcome: Practical incident‑response experience.
